Both of these have to be disconnected to fire up.  I know there is a short
on the 14v line.

I read the 100+ volts with a dmm meter probe about 1 inch away from the
pins.  It feels like a 'wind' coming from the end of the tube if I put the
back of my hand within 2-3 in. from the tube.
