Those don't sound bad, since the frame rates close to 30 show up, as does
most of the field rates.
The 960 setting is just not being supported by most manufacturers.

Is this exactly what the customer left you with??? The only thing I can
discern is that 'pillar' part may be the 4:3 mode, and of course if it
is.... then the flashing may be due to the circuit that injects the 4:3
picture into the 16:9 frame (the pillar maker).
Sheesh, reminds me of the LG alignment that utilizes the
"picture maker thingy" alignment I found in the E44W....something LCD manual
just this week.
