This unit was in for service under Thomson warranty in Oct. '02, shorted
q14401 and defective ihvt t14401 239111. "previous" work was noticed,
but not fully documented, except for poor solder work, trace/jumpers on
U14601.
Unit failed again and was in for repair in April this year, 2004. This
time both the ihvt 239111 and the blue focus block 246457 were bad.
Now:
Again the unit is in for repair, the ihvt is bad. Checked caps c14402
and 14800, diodes. Tested with Sencore analyzer.
Installed a new ihvt and scoped the HOT. Unit failed after a couple of
seconds, before the tubes came up.
The replacement IHVT now rings 0, as with the old one, a new one rings
50+. Measured pin 5 to HV lead with cap leak checker to test HV diode
stack. The bad ihvts pull twice the current of a new one.
Something is causing the HV diode stacks to fail.
Any ideas?
