Walt,
This is from an RCA service bullion:
Symptom: The tuner cannot be aligned correctly using the XX15053-470
microprocessor built in service mode.
Cause: An error in the microprocessor code causes the incorrect value to be
stored in the EEPROM when the alignment is made using the built in service
mode.
Cure: If the microprocessor is marked XX15053-470, use Chipper Check
software to align the tuner. If the microprocessor is marked XX15053-47A,
the built in service mode should align correctly.
I don't know if this problem would affect alignments other than tuner, but
it may. Hope this helps.
