Thanks Jim,
This problem does look like a EPROM. I am going to try and align the tuner. 
Have had no success doing this in the past . I have a Sencore VA62 signal 
generator but do not have a procedure for these type tuners.. I could get 
the Service manual but thought it suggests using a TAG generator which I 
don't have for the alignment. If any one has a easy alignment procedure for 
these sets would appreciate it.
