Gary the HV section is a tuned circuit sounds like it running out of
resonace, replace hold down caps
tuning caps or really just
replace all the caps in the HV output circuit

for the recall of no pix, dead. Customer said they had changed a transistor
and set worked. When I took everything apart I found HO transistor was
shorted. Previous tech had replaced original with generic. I was surprised
to NOT find original equipment transistor in my van and was also forced to
install generic replacement. Set immediately fired up w/ perfect picture
and I buttoned set up. Exactly 5 weeks later (January 29th) the customer
called again with a dead set problem. I returned and found HOut shorted
again. This time I replaced with factory original, redid solder connections
on hor driver transformer, changed .33 ohm resistor(it was ok) and because
customer "remembered" that set popped once before going out each time I used
RCA PTV sealant on each CRT... Surprise! Today is exactly 5 weeks and guess
who called with dead set AGAIN?
