Jerry,

A typical HV probe with a built in 50uA movement has an impedance of 20k
ohms per volt. I you were checking a voltage between 200 to 400 volts it
would have an impedance of 4 meg to 8 meg ohms which is less than the DMM's
10 meg ohms (at 500 volts and up it equal then beat the DMM's load
impedance). However if you used an add on HV probe with your analog
(typically 20k/v) or digital voltmeter (typically 10 meg ohms)  then the
impedance will be increased by the multiplier value of the probe.
