IBM runs Philips now. When did this happen??? We are a ASC and this is the
first I have heard of this. Tell us more about this. Is IBM part of the
design team too? What else is new, classroom training with any Manufacturer
is a thing of the past anyway. You never find out anything until it's old
news. That must be why their new sets are nightmares. Those DPTV--- are the
worst. You get a chirping, dead set and it could be any of four modules, and
I have seen them all bad. What a crappy new design. They should have stayed
with the PTV915. Now that was a money maker. These DPTV's really su--!
Anybody like to work on these? Also, to change the signal board or pull it
to replace conv. amps is a nightmare. Torx screws, ribbon cables, stand up
modules, and the board is paper thin, will break in a second. junk. The
modules are way over priced too. When they come out of warranty, I doubt if
anybody will approve the repair unless we do it at a loss. What a mess.

They were not "bought out". They paid IBM hundreds of millions of dollars to
take over their North american parts and service operations. All new Philips
products are oriented toward the high end market only. Since the new
products are basically computers with various types of customer interfaces,
Philips felt that a computer-oriented service company would be the best
choice.
