I would check all the caps with my ESR meter and change the bad ones. If that didn't fix it, then I would replace all 3 convergence IC's. If you don't want to replace all 3 in case there is another fault, I would get the service manual from the Hitachi website and find out which one is at fault, and just replace one. If it fixes the convergence, then replace the other 2. In most cases it is the convergence IC's at fault. Hi members, The blue convergence is off about 2 inches at the top left corner of the screen. All convergence adjustments work properly, but, have no effect in this area. I found some info in some e-mails I saved, saying that the DCU module might have bad fish-caps in it. I pulled the DCU module to the shop, where I examined it, and could not see any discolored, or any signs of leaking caps, or contamination. I hate to pull, and replace any of these caps, unless I am fairly sure that is where my problem is. I have not changed any of the 3 convergence ICs yet (STK4274), cause I would have to order some in first. What should I do first ? Change the convergence output ICs, or rebuild the DCU model ? There are about 20 fish caps on the module, and they are hard to remove without damage to the traces. This set is 9 years old. Any advice is appreciated.
