Thanks Clint , I tried some of those programs at Znet. I had some errors and gave up. While I was playing around I opened PrintKey and Irfanview . Using PrintKey to capture the area the icon would be made of, saving it to Irfanview then changing it to an Icon extention worked. Now I have some nice Icons on our desk top. PrintKey has the ability to go directly to an icon format but it will not work for me, that is why I used Infranview . Thanks again...........Charlie Charles Belich Slidewire Electronics 108 S. 1st. Type icons in the searchbar. Be sure you don't d'load one that times-out or is limited. Freeware is what you want, but sometimes the shareware versions aren't limited or time-out either. You just have look closely at the description, and even then it doesn't always tell you. I believe I once used one called 'easy icons'. Be sure they support your OS. -Clint ----- Original Message ----- From: "OrpheusComputing.com Repair" <techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, February 06, 2002 7:53 AM Subject: [TechAssist] Re: Customizing desktop icons All you do when you want to change the properties of anything (including icons) is right click and select 'properties'. There is a 'change icon' button there. Depending on if it's a shortcut or not, the change icon button may be on the first tab, or 2nd tab, or other. You will be presented with a list of icons. If they are limited, 'browse' and go to shell32.dll in your windows system folder for a larger selection. For folders, you cannot change their icon unless you use a program. To change your cdrom or cdrw drive shortcut icons, media must be in them first. -Clint God Bless Us All Clint Hamilton, Owner http://OrpheusComputing.com http://ComputerHardware-ConsumerElectronics.com sales@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Fax: 209-882-9602 TechAssist Administration http://tech-assist.org techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx 4orpheus@xxxxxxxxxxxxx (alternates) orpheuscomputing@xxxxxxxxx (PLEASE include our previous correspondence if replying to this email!!) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Charles Belich" <seashell@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, February 06, 2002 9:47 AM Subject: [TechAssist] Customizing desktop icons Hello , can someone tell me how to change my desktop icons ?
