Daft question. =20
How many of the instances of 'red running' were false calls, that is no
one was waiting to cross, because the pedestrian had seen a gap and
already crossed? In other words, is it a case of drivers identifying
that no one was at risk and trying to reduce their delays. Totally
wrong but understandable.

Subject: [TCUG] Red light running

Sussex Safer Roads Partnership recently carried out a survey at a
pelican=20
crossing on the A27 and found that drivers went through on amber or red
on=20
about 20% of the occasions when the crossing changed for pedestrians.=20
They say they carried out the survey a distance from the crossing and
were=20
not wearing any high vis. jackets. Has anyone out there carried out any=20
studies or can give any references to any published work on red running
at=20
"mid-block" crossings? Any information gratefully received.
Thanks
