Sometimes in my Thing I have to run my finger across the fuses and spin them after it's been sitting awhile for everything to work.

Went out last night to start Freedom and charge the battery and the low beams didn't work. Cindy jiggled (a few fuses, that is!) and they worked. Go figure.

You can't make this stuff up.
Last week I drove my '70 bus, Utah, to the auto parts store ran great. The next morning I jumped in and cranked away, but it would not fire. Cranked but no fire. I had recently installed an electronic ignition so I thought something had happened to it. I couldn't get the module out so I pulled the distributor, installed a set of points, gapped them on the bench, installed the distributor, set the timing with a static light to get it going, cranked and still would not start. Scratched head. I could smell gas, it cranked, but no start. Checked the wires to make sure I had everything back together. Stock carb so I thought maybe the fuel solenoid shutoff valve wasn't shifting. Pulled valve checked on the bench, looks good. Checked for power at coil and it only read 7 1/2 volts. Touched hot wire to fuel solenoid and it wasn't shifting, hooked up battery charged and it started right up. Go figure, 7 1/2 volts is enough to crank a 1641 engine, but not enough to pull the plunger on a fuel shutoff valve. Charged battery and runs like a top. Wasted 3 hours chasing a problem that wasn't the problem - priceless. Ronnie

I finally got around to changing the oil in the bus and also adjusted the valves. #3 and #4 exhaust valves were tight. Got it all done and the bus wouldn't fire. Thought I might have messed things up when I did the valves. BTW, the dizzy was loose when I took the cap off to line up#1. Anyway, I preceded to replace the rotor, the cap, I had fuel getting the carb and all that. Check all the spark plugs wires....

Right as I was giving up for the day - saw one of the wires off the side of the coil (it was so closed, it was touching it and times and trying to fire)Connected it and she fired up. Then I set the timing and bolted down the dizzy....

I am happy now.
