No way is traffic as bad as SoCal. If you think it is, you've never been on the
405, 101 or Newport Freeway during rush hour. And don't even get me talking
about accidents out there. Yed, traffic is getting worse, much worse, but it
does not compare.

Well, let's see; I 35 through Austin, 290 out by the airport, and that thing
that they call the MO-PAC.  And mo-pac is correct, there is a lot of mo-pac,
but not sure they could pac anymore cars on that thing.  Last time I went down
the mo-pac it took about 1 1/2 hours to go from the start on the north side to
the end on the south side, a total of what, about 5 miles or so.  Last time
(coming back from the Classic) it took 1 1/2 hours to go from the airport to
Bastrop (about 20 miles) stop and go the entire way.  We used to (late 50s)
drive our sports cars out the 2222 from town all the way to the lake as fast as
we felt safe and never saw a house and very few other cars.  Austin traffic now
is as bad as southern CA around LA.  A friend of mine is a Texas DOT engineer
and told me a couple of years ago that Austin had the highest traffic count on
their freeways of any city in Texas.  I love Austin, just as I love southern
CA;  just one problem now:  There are too many )(&(%^&#$$^#@ people living
there.
