Duncan:  I cannot answer that question.  Talk to your local expert at your auto
paint store.  If you have an English Color store in the Austin area talk to
them.  There are a gillion different compounds out there.  Short of that I
would
advise finding a small area that would not be noticable and buff it with the
coursest of the two, then the finer finishing it up with some hand glaze and
see
how it works.  Most clear buffs out really easy.

Did research and it is a rubbing compound. I have some 3M 3900 and a full
container of Maquires Ultimate Compound. Are these equivalent? Not to harsh?

Just trying to save a trip to the store. And a few bucks.

Sent almost from, but not quite, somewhere else.

3m makes good stuff.  But I wasn't even thinking about Cindy when I wrote
that.  I use 3m all the time.  Just stuck some gasket material this afternoon
with 3m trim adhesive; and of course I wrote at least a dozen notes today on
sticky notes.  In my office I used to keep sticky notes stuck all over the
computer and would tell people that I kept all my information on my computer.
