Humm, well from the sounds of it the carbs are jetted appropriately.  What kind 
of oil cooler configuration is it, a Doghouse or inline?  I deleted the other 
responses already, so if I'm asking something redundant, I apologize.  Also, 
when the engine was built, was the cooler flushed or new?
