sounds like a good idea. i already have a rotten spot in the heater channel under neath so i could essentially cut that on out and install the fan. that would work out great. sounds like the best bet.

as far as the heater boxes go they are very similar to the t1 only difference is that the exhaust ports are underneath instead of front and back of the head. but they work pretty much the same. just a little akward to a t1 person.

Since we are talking about a T4, I don't know what the heater boxes are like. I would still find used ones from probably Wayout. They can rust through, but they are generally tough enough to be good used.

I also don't know how much the heat channel under the bus has been changed, but in my splitty there is a fan system that is advertised in Hot VWs that I have and it works really well. It involves cutting about 4" out of the channel and attaching an in-line fan. You can buy the fan at any boat supply store. They are used to exhaust fuel fumes from the bildge and engine rooms, Matey. The only down side is that it is noisy. But with the duct all the way open and the fan on full blast you will actually get hot and have to crack a window. On top of all that, the defroster will actually work.

The kit from hot VWs is only about $45 and comes with the 3 way switch and all, which makes it a pretty good deal.
