If you're looking for another spot for orienteering (for those who don't know,
the annual O-Challenge was a huge draw for Bastrop, they had a really good
orienteering course), Fritsche Park is a Harris County park near Tomball that
has a pretty good course. Day use mainly, 91 acres, primitive camping with no
amenities, but open to Scout camping.

Deer Run. Not a lot of traffic there yet. They've only been open for a month
or so.

Sounds like a good idea… I'll propose that to our troop.

Where did y'all camp? Our last campout there we stayed in the primitive area
off of one of the loop trails. Probably pretty soggy right now with little veg
to soak in the rains.

The park is setting up work days for volunteers if anyone is interested in

Our Scout Troop spent some time out there a couple weekends ago, filling in

  Here are a couple links:

The storms which rolled through Texas recently hammered Bastrop State Park
again.
The pictures of Park Road 1A (in the friends of lost pines link) shows how
fragile the park is right now.

  Pretty amazing.
