Not karen but the default is lower case with initial caps at the beginning of a
sentence after a full stop. You could set talks to say upper case and then if
you are accidentally in upper case you will be alerted to this and would then
come out of it. To set the Talks to say upper and lower case when you are
writing, then press the Talks key and the number 2 on the keypad quickly. It
will either say speak upper case on or speak upper case off. I always do this
so I dont accidentally write a block of upper case. Other than that it won't
bother you and it won't keep saying lower case, just the setting has been set.
If in the body of a text you wanted to put upper case, like say LTD then you
hit the hash key once and you will hear upper case then you would hit the key
for L after that given that you would then want the other two letters t and d
in upper case you would press the hash key once again. This then turns all you
are writing into upper case. To revert back to lower case just hit the hash
key once. As karen says switching between predictive and plain text involves
the hash key also but this is where the hash key is hit twice in succession and
rapidly.

  hello karen
  thank you for that
  it worked
now i pose the next part of this
when i create a new message the to box allows and announces lower case
the body of the text announces upper case
if i press the hash key it says lower case but i want it to stay errantly in
lower case how do i set this so that it always says lower case when writing the
text

    hi yvonne

press the hash key until you hear it say upper case or lower case, if you
hear dictionary upper case or lower case that means predictive texting is
active..

    hi
my n 86 has predictive text turned on
it was probably done by the previous owner
i want to turn it off but i can find no mention of it in the menu structures
can anyone tell me where i will find it to be able to turn it off?
and also is there a short cut command to go straight to predictive and turn
it on or off
    thank you
    Yvonne
