Just a shame Vodafone didn't stock the N86... Would have loved that phone.

As others have said Graham, they are normaly pretty good at refunding which
wasn?t my experience with Orange which resulted in me terminating a contract
of 9 years and going to Voda.

thanks all for the advice on this one. I will definitely ask them about it.

It is also good to know that people have had success on the phone as well as
doing this in store. I went for the N85 from Voda in the end though I
understand that Voda are about to remove this phone as it is reaching the
end of its life. I will ask about getting the £50 back for Talks for sure.

It really isn't too difficult and takes longer to explain that it will to
phone or go into the store and ask them... They really are pretty good as I
say.

I spoke to someone over the telephone, not usually the first person I speak
with but I asked and explained that I would like to speak to a Manager,
someone who could make this decision for me. Then when I get said person I
go through it slowly explaining about Talks and how Vodafone had put it on
for me and how I could not use the phone without it. Then I go on to
explain that it is possible for me to have this put on 'here and now,
immediately' rather than having to send it away for such a long time etc and
ask if it is possible to have my Account Credited with the £50 for moving
the lisence. Never have had a problem with that. then when he, it has
usually been a him ladies, agrees, I ask if they will confirm that to me in
writing and they agree. This way I know it will be done.

did you have to take the talks receipt to a shop or would they do it online?

Cheers

That's right... Vodafone put standard on my first phone; I upgraded to full
version. Then they paid for my handset licence swap which, I think, came to
the same as they would be charged by Talks for putting standard talks on my
next new phone.

In any event, they paid for the handset swap which was what I wanted.

The only thing to note there Paul is that Vodafone only put Talks Standard
on, which is significantly cheaper to them than Premium.

From my experience, Vodafone have always agreed to pay the £50.00 for the
handset transfer of talks from one phone to the next.

You may need to provide some confirmation that you have had to pay for this
yourself before they credit you but, that will be up for discussion between
you and Vodafone.

I went into the store on one occasion with an email printout of my receipt
from Talknav for example and they credited my Voda account there and then.

I don't think it matters as to your previous history with how and what you
did with Talks... Fundamentally, Vodafone would have agreed to pay for Talks
on your new phone anyway and all you are doing is asking them to pay the
same amount but, for your handset swap.

It may even be cheaper for them as I am not sure how much it costs to put
Talks on a new phone from scratch.

Hope this helps and let me know if I can assist further.

Paul

Subject: [talks-uk] helpful vodafone staff and paying for talks

Hi all.

I have just arranged an upgrade to an N85 with Vodafone. I found staff
helpful and prepared to go through options.

There was One thing the member of staff I spoke to was not sure about and
that was paying for the talks upgrade.

I understand that Vodafone will credit my account with the cost of a TALKS
upgrade but I am not sure how the procedure works and wondered about the
experiences of other vodafone users on this list.

Does it matter that when I first bought Talks I was not with Vodafone and in
fact I paid for the

previous upgrade myself? where does the person look to arrange this TALKS
;payment?

Regards

Graham
