The absolute situation is as follows:

When you buy a full premium licence for £150 your licence is tagged to
enable it to be moved from that device to another, this is known as a change
of handset, or confusingly a cross phone upgrade. This service costs £50 and
removes the tag from your original phone and places it on your new one.

When you buy a Standard Talks through Vodafone, which of course you don't
technically buy, although you do pay for it just not with money in the
traditional sense! Aside from the obvious application differences between
premium and standard, a Talks standard client is not entitled to free
updates nor upgrades, support from a Nuance dealer, nor change of handsets
at reduced rates. Having said that the latter option isn't a worry if their
going back to Vodafone when they get their next phone for another free
licence.

Someone can upgrade from standard to premium for £50, this is on our
web-site, and this gives them full premium, including the right to move
handset for £50 additionally on top of this fee.

Additionally though, someone who buys premium and then later moves their
licence to a new phone, can sell or give away their old phone with
effectively no transfer tag and perform an upgrade from standard to premium
which re-enables the transfer tag. Then for another £50 move that licence to
their next handset.

I hope that this was clear.

This is news to me, so like you say, needs clarification by one of the

"if you then sell the
old phone, the buyer will have TALKS, but will not be able to upgrade for
£50 to anew phone, as you would have already used that option yourself,
they
would have to pay the full £150"

I believe that they would have to pay only £100. £50 to get back the
option of upgrading as it were, and the other £50 is the cost of the
actual upgrade to a new handset itself. I could be wrong but I think it
worth checking with a Talks dealer just to be sure.

Cheers,
Amro

Paul - Just for the sake of clarity, TALKS is tied to the imei number of
your phone, you can only upgrade once per phone, so if you buy a new phone
and want TALKS on it, it would cost you £50, however, if you then sell the
old phone, the buyer will have TALKS, but will not be able to upgrade for
£50 to anew phone, as you would have already used that option yourself,
they
would have to pay the full £150, or buy another second hand phone with
TALKS
already installed. -

Hi Jackie

Thanks for that.

I thought it was something along those lines.

I don't plan to keep the N95 which has Talks and Zooms Premium on it so,
it
will be a good addition for the next person who gets it if they need it
when
it goes to their good home.

I agree with you that it is very reasonable.

I can remember talking to people about how good it would be if we could
have
speech output on a phone to tell us battery and network signal and now
look
where we are?

Thanks again.

Yes you can as far as I know, the very worthwhile £50 gives you Talks
Premium.

Thanks for that.

Could I just pay for an upgrade on the old phone if I wanted to? As you
would if there were a new version of talks for which you wanted to upgrade
for a new phone?

Thanks.

Hi Everyone

Can anyone confirm that I do get to keep Talks and Zooms on my old
phone now that I have paid for a licence to change from one handset to the
other?

So, effectively, have Talks and zooms on both phones?

I think I do but, just wanted to make sure.

Thanks.
