Press Function key (bottom left) with Space. This brings up the settings. The
first on the list is predictive text on/off, so just press Select to change the
status.

No this key does not turn predictive text on and off Saqib. Yes mine is in
the exact same position as yours. Someone did tell us what to do, I will have
to look it up for you but Barbra did try it and it did work for her. Do not
want to say here in case I get it wrong but will forward e-mail to you off list.

Hi Eleanor did you work out how to turn it on and off then? My Talks key is
assigned to the symbols key at the bottom right. Does this key turn pridictive
text off?

Oh right thanks Barbra but at least you got the answer (and me too) to that
bit about the predictive text.

The other thing is maybe we could reassign the Talks Key if it was worth
doing.

It's same as TALKS key, so not sure if some of those commands won't work
for us.

That is interesting Barbra but what is the Ctrl key? I know bottom
left is function and to the right of it is Shift.

Thanks, that's spot on and just what I wanted. Works a treat. Trying
to put Email address in the contacts list and with predictive text it's a
nightmare, but so is keeping having to go to settings. Thanks a lot.

Not quite the shortcut you are looking for but you can speed things
up a little by using function and space together to get to settings more
quickly while in a message body. Predictive text is the highlight item so hit
select, then again to change the status.

                Hi Steve

The E71 has a qwerty keypad and this is why I think it is
different. I know it is usually # which is actually bottom right, but on the
E71 this simply types a ' symbol.

                Thanks anyway.#

Hi Barbara, I don't have the E71, but on the N85 you can
press the "#" key (bottom left key) to toggle between choices like "dictionary
lower case, dictionary upper case, numbers, upper case and lower case". So, if
you have predictive text on and then you don't want to use it, simply press
that key when in a text field to change it to lower case. Predictive text
would be "dictionary upper/lower case". HTH, cheers Steve.

Does anyone know if there is a shortcut key for switching
on and off predictive text on the E71? Want to be able to turn it off sometimes
without having to go to settings.
