Ok, I will take on the 'moderator' role. But not administrator, as I would
not have a clue as to how to resolve list-related problems. Where do I sign.
With regard to what additional topics, if any, we may allow on SugPro, I
suggest it is best if the SugPro members decide. I will create a survey
that members can take and use the results to decide on the way forward.

The hardest part, I would think, would be doing the initial deciding about
what to include/exclude and somehow conveying that accurately enough that
most people can decide for themselves what's OK and what's not.
I would still do the list administration (troubleshooting when there are
problems, which is almost never, helping people get unsubscribed or
subscribed, etc.), or, if you wanted you could take that on, too. There's
literally almost nothing to do on that front.

When I resuscitated the list, I became, de facto, the list moderator. At
least, on the rare occasion when anyone asked what was allowed, no one
else would speak up, so I did. This was a bit different from the
practice on the previous incarnation of the list when I don't recall any
moderator per se (though maybe I'm not remembering accurately). Back
then, on occasion , one of the more established people on the list would
caution people when they went too far astray (which, IIRC, was not
often). I do remember Bill Colburn invariably reminding people to put
[OT] on the subject line for off-topic posts.
At any rate, I never wanted to be the moderator (or the list admin,
either, for that matter), I just did it because no one else was. So,
since you have some desires about the direction the list should take,
and I have absolutely none, why don't you become list moderator? I'll be
perfectly happy with whatever you decide and keep my mouth shut when the
issue of what's on/off topic arises in the future.
[Just to be clear: I'm not angry or anything--I just think that when
someone has strong ideas about how things should go, probably they
should be the one to implement them....]
