Hi Joshua, All our volunteers use headphones while reading, as this also gives them the audio channel to talk to the monitor when not in record mode. We use the intercom mode within Studio Recorder. I will attach a wiring diagram on how the equipment is set up. With the intercom turned on, the microphones are controlled by the software. In stop mode, both monitor and narrator mics are on so they can converse. In playback, both mics are muted so you can be certain that what you hear is in the recording. In record mode, the narrator mic is on and the monitor mic is muted. I did get some resistance from volunteers at first about wearing the headphones, but they got used to it. Also, by having headphones on with the intercom mode, when you go into record, the software can be set to play back a few seconds of the recording up to the edit point, thus, giving the narrator an audible cue to begin narrating. We completely eliminated the "green light". Hope this helps. Some of our volunteers want this and some don't. Does anybody do this in their studio?
