The Ravens were 8-3 before their collapse and crushed with injuries last year.
2 months ago I would have called them the favorite but with Watson and dare I
say respect to the Bungles who knows

That’s not how it works, they probably did like other receivers, just not at
that point in the draft in terms of how they valued the players remaining on
the board with their picks. They could have forced something or reached, but
they had other needs that met up better with that portion of the draft, so they
went elsewhere.
I don’t think they are hanging Lamar out to dry, either, there’s a lot of
pressure on Bateman, but they are getting their top two running backs returning
from injury, Proche and Duvernay are capable and they are 4 deep at tight end
as well now. Season doesn’t start for another 4 months and they have ample time
to add to the group.
They’ll be fine.

So they didn’t like *any* other receivers besides Austin? Nothing like making
it even harder for Lamar Jackson to have success in the passing game…

I’m not surprised by it, but I didn’t think they had the guts to do it. There’s
a lot that has to play out, he has to perform, he can get a good contract that
is cap friendly if he does well or the Steelers can get a good compensatory
pick if he does well and then leaves.
Or it becomes one of the worst draft day trades in team history (though the
knee injury in year 2 derailed everything)
One other note, lovely detail from Peter King today that the Steelers beat the
Ravens to Calvin Austin, who the Ravens coveted with one of their 4th round
picks.

I'm actually a little surprised by this. I know they can always try to resign
him if he has a good year, but if he has a good year, isn't it going to cost
more than the $10m he would get in the option year?
The flip side of course being that he has another bad year, then you're stuck
with an underperforming LB eating up $10m of your cap......

- Steelers decline the 5th year option on Devin Bush. Not a surprise, he’s now
playing Bon an expiring contract for his future.
- Justyn Ross signed with Kansas City
Full draft review for the Steelers and the other 31 teams will follow when I’ve
run out of tape to watch.
