Yes, I'll fix that.
Thanks,
John

Hey Pete?

I figured that out the second time it happened to me 'grin'.

But thanks for posting, you write better than I do.

That is a nasty dialog if you don't have the registration key. I had
the same experience as you when I first tried running Sonar without
the registration key for the scripts. I got a bunch of HSC errors,
plus it was almost impossible to close Sonar or get our of the dialog.

The way I finally got out of Sonar and the endless loop I seemed to be
in without restarting the computer was to click on the first link to
"click Here to Purchase the scripts". This opened up a web page.
Then I was out of the Sonar dialog, could kill JAWS, and then kill
sonar from the Program Manager.

It would be nice if this pre-registration issue could be cleared up.
I would think that putting the registration check as one of the first
lines of code in the AutoStartEvent function might fix this.

What do i need?

yes, that's the demo default number.

So the scripts go in the enu folder,
right?

When I got in to sonar the first time, I got a dialogue about
registering the scripts, and could not get out of it or shut down jaws
in the task manager even, I couldn't dismiss the dialogue.

Hey John?

HSC is a tricky technology, you know how screen-scraping is,
depending on many factors it can mis fire, top window title names,
something covering up a window, this generates more email than just
about anything else on these lists, why doesn't hsc set blah blah
blah, work, so you never know if it was an error in the creation, or
something in the end user setup.

I'[ve done some hsc dev my self,
I've slept since then and there's been some additions to the
functionallity of it, snow man is extremely bright, and someone we
respect a lot, but the nature of the technology is such that it's not
100 percent.
So it needs to be taken as such.

Interesting. Just as a note, I've noticed that although many of the
HSC sets will mostly work when using the Windows 7 Basic theme, they
will be a little flakey or some things just won't work when using
this theme. Switching to the Windows Classic Theme will often clear
up these issues. Now I always switch to the Windows Classic Theme
when using HSC sets that were developed for Sonar.

I would keep my PC using the Windows Classic theme, but JAWS has an
issue with the Logon screen when locking the computer with the
Windows Classic Theme Active. So I always put the theme back to
Windows 7 Basic before locking the screen or putting the computer to
sleep.

Well, I guess its not a perfect world out there!

I think the HSC sets were mostly designed with the window boundaries
in mind such as the current window and not the whole screen. I've
seen some luck with the HSC sets already so at least some of them
work I can say.

As for what one needs, I learned that one needs a display that will
support at least 1280 x 800 resolution. Although my video card
does, I have an older monitor that does not. So its off to the
store in a day or two to find a new monitor!

I'm wondering how these HSC sets are working with X3 and Platinum.
The HSC sets were developed with the lower specific resolution in
mind and also most of them rely on using the Windows Classic Theme
instead of the Windows 7 Basic theme which is the default these
days. I'm surprised any old HSC sets would work at all.

Chris,
I've been reading the traffic since the inception of this list. Even
asked if you questions myself. Other than the scripts, and HSC and
a version of jaws, 15 or above, is there anything else I need? Is
16 better than 15? Is 15 is better, and I even buy it? See below.

guys,
I’m about to fire up SOnAR X3 with the scripts. I’ve downloaded
HSC Build 2036 and SONAR blind 1.69, i think that’s the Build.
I’m doing this on a cheap Dell laptop that I use for testing.
Since I’m only interested in navigation, not latency or track
count, this should work until I decide how to rebuild my studio.

Does anyone have a recommendation as to whether it’s better to use
JFW 15 or 16 with this? My SMA has long since expired and the
last JFW I had was 12 on my XP machine, which I use for SONAR 8.53 with
CT and Sibelius 6.20. Yes, I had the beta scripts. Since I have
to buy a new JAWS build, Should I buy 15 or 16? do I even have
the option of buying 15 anymore?

Assuming that I can install the recommended JFW build and HSC,
along with the scripts,Is their anything else I need to have a
functioning test environment? I’ve been reading the thread about
screen resolution and will check to see that I can support
1200X800, if that’s the recommended resolution.

thanks,
Kevin
