My first question would be: What do you consider "extra attenuation" to be?

Compared to 50 ohm source driving 50 ohm load?

Compared to 75 ohm source driving 75 ohm load?

Compared to an ideal voltage source? (driving any load)

I would say that this connection has negative extra attenuation (i.e.,
one might say it has "gain" compared to the correctly matched case),
because it has less attenuation.

This is a simple voltage divider and there are no reflections.
