        Hello, Oleg -

        Your other respondents are correct, but the hilite <sic>
        is stippled.  If you want a solid color, you can achieve
        this by setting an environment variable.  In the Allegro
        command line, simply type

        set display_nohilitefont

        with a carriage return and then redisplay, you should get
        all solid colors from then on.  To revert to a stippled
        display, simply

        unset display_nohilitefont

        Setting variables this way only affects the current session.
