Based on two private replies I got, I put a drawing of the NSC module in question (LMX9838) at http://tgi-sci.com/misc/lmx9838d.gif . This should make it easier to guess antenna type etc., I guess. Another thought I have is to leave the antenna - which seems to be the module area without soldering pads at one end, something like 6 x 10 mm - show out of the case. That is, the pad area gets soldered to the board inside the case, at its very end, and the opening in the metal case gets perhaps somewhat larger and gets covered by some plastic cover. Does this sound better than the other options?
