[ SHOWGSD-L ] white on GSD

Back in the early 60's we never saw white anywhere on a GSD in
the ring. Breeders were horified if there was a white toe or a spot on
the chest. In fact, I remember hearing of some puppoes which were
"bucketed" at birth due to the presence of white, be it ever so little.
Of course, back then we were breeding to Bernd, Troll, Axle, and the
like. Now we are seeing vast amounts of white, even huge "crosses"
reaching from the throat to the breast and from point of shoulder to
point of shoulder. I find this a bit scary. Our standard does not address
white probably because when it was written, dogs did not have white
anywhere so it was not an issue. Many standards state exactly how much
white is allowable, no larger than a quarter, a few white hairs on the toes,
not to extend to the - _ _ _ , etc. There's a lot of dying going on out
there,
and it's hard to identify until you climb into the whelping box.
This brings me to a question: Do the Germans allow any white ?
NOTE: I am not comparing G to A, just curious.
