Back in the early 60's we never saw white anywhere on a GSD in=0D
the ring. Breeders were horified if there was a white toe or a spot on=

the chest. In fact, I remember hearing of some puppoes which were=0D
"bucketed" at birth due to the presence of white, be it ever so little.=

Of course, back then we were breeding to Bernd, Troll, Axle, and the=0D
like. Now we are seeing vast amounts of white, even huge "crosses"=0D
reaching from the throat to the breast and from point of shoulder to=0D
point of shoulder. I find this a bit scary. Our standard does not addr=
ess=0D
white probably because when it was written, dogs did not have white=0D
anywhere so it was not an issue. Many standards state exactly how much=0D
white is allowable, no larger than a quarter, a few white hairs on the
toes,=0D
not to extend to the - _ _ _ , etc. There's a lot of dying going on ou=
t

and it's hard to identify until you climb into the whelping box.=0D
This brings me to a question: Do the Germans allow any white=
