What you said is the key.? I have a mother/daughter who are totally bonded.?
When I was deciding which pup to keep, Mom made the decision.? My favorite was
not hers.? The pup she picked knows how to push her Mom's buttons but also
knows exactly when to STOP!? Mom does not care for?her daughter's pups at all
but was so happy to have her daughter back in the pack after weaning.? ?
Mom and another unrelated bitch grew up together.? Everything was fine for
almost 3 years.? However, both girls wanted to be Alpha.? If I corrected one,
the other would get involved as well.? No major scuffles but I could see a
potential problem.? Oh, they were fine with each other until a human was
involved in the pack.? Then the competition ensued.? I then brought an intact
male into the pack and the girl's friendship was over.?
That said, one night, my neutered male, who hates the intact male, broke into
my bedroom where I had the intact male and the other bitch sleeping with me.?
The fight was on.? The boys were the aggressors.? They wanted to kill each
other.? The girl grabbed scruffs and hung on, refusing to let go.? They did not
try to kill each other, it was a stalemate.? The girls can still?play together
with no males around and with very strict supervision.??But, the boys can only
be close to each other in crates.???
Maybe it all depends on the individual temperments, relationships, pack
history?and personalities of the dogs involved.? Not to mention the control
that the breeder/owner has over their dogs.? Everyone seems to have had
different experiences.? So, you have to look at your own dogs, the pack
mentality you have and how much time you have to monitor every situation.? I
know which dogs I can expose to young pups and which dogs to hold off on until
the pups are a bit older.? Eventually all the dogs get to socialize with the
pups before they go to their new homes.? But, that is what works for me and may
not be for everyone.? JMHO

My alpha bitch, Becky, is now over 10. She has always accepted other
bitches IF they have come in as puppies. From that point, they have been
hers,
she sets the boundaries and all is well. If she corrects an impudent
youngster
for some perceived insult, I leave well enough alone, knowing that if I
intervene the next correction from Becky towards the youngster will only be
harsher.
I have a young bitch, Kate, who has been here from the time she was
approximately 4 months old. She's now over a year. Becky lets Kate get away
with
murder. I have another nine month old bitch who Becky expects to tow the
line,
so it's not that Becky is mellowing.
It's almost like Becky is passing the baton, grooming Kate to be the next
alpha bitch.
If I think about it too long it makes me blue:(
