I don't know if this applies to canines but a few years ago I started having
trouble with my eyes drying out and staying red around the rims of my eyes.
I was told to increase the amount of Omega 3 fatty acids in my diet by
supplementing with salmon oil capsules or eating cold body fish atleast 3
times per week. Omega 3 apparently (in addition to many other benefits)
helps the mucous membranes. By the way, I tried the lubricating eye drops
which only temporarily helped the problem.
