Same situation as with the American/Japanese Akita split.
The Japanese Kennel Club has petitioned FCI and obtained
a split between the dog we know as the Akita and the type
they (Japan) now favor as being *the* historically
accurate, pre-WWII version of the breed.
What does the Japanese Akita look like? Think "very
large Shiba Inu." ;) If anyone cares:
