Ann, I agree with you about the RED BOOK.
I worked on the first one and several early issue's when Cappy began
tabulating. At that time I lived in Livermore and I was only a little over
an hour from her. The big problem then was getting info from the people with
qualifiers in a timely manner.

Once people began to realize the recognition they received via the RED BOOK,
every one wanted to get on the " BAND WAGON ".

That may not be so much of an issue now. Owners of the top dogs and bitches
like the publicity the Red Book and special litter with wins gives them.

As for Kathy mentioning getting her money back from Futurities. That did
happen in the late 60's. It was, however, short lived. There were people I
knew who lived in the San Jose, Calif. area. Bob and Joan Van Gorkum, they
had a bitch that was a Hy-vert'a Gallant of Arbywood daughter, bred her to
GV Yoncalla"s Mike, and the whole litter placed in Futurities. If I recall
correctly their kennel name was Vanjo. Those days before Redbook etc.,
entries were so large that a trip to the regional Futurity could just about
be paid for with the prize money that was given at that time.

Those were the day's.......
