I sent this private since I thought that is what she wanted. However, after
reading how much better David and Flower Boy answered, I decided to send it to
the List for the three people who still read my posts.
Fair is how someone feels about the results. Dog shows are fair if you enjoy
them, but unfair if they make you miserable. It is a personal approach and
the results may be different to different people.
If you go to the show to have a good time, and you do, that is fair. If you
go to win, and don't that may or may not be unfair, it depends on how it
makes you feel. If by fair you mean, honest or dishonest, then a different
question is being asked.
An honest show is one where the judge does what he or she feels is right,
win or lose. A dishonest show is where the judging is not based on what the
judge believes is correct, but for another reason. A judge may be prejudiced
by
who owns a dog, or what the past record is, that would be dishonest and
unfair.
Before you decide what fair is, you have to determine what you are asking?
It is always fair to go to the show, expecting a good time. Then, it is up
to you how it turns out. For me, I love the shows, and the results are a
bonus. It is always fair to me, but that is how I chose to make it.
I hope this is of some help to you, and it is how I see "fair" as an
attorney.
