Well, this isn't scientific proof but I put Rags crate in our bedroom by my 
side of the bed after I brought her home and soon discovered that Monty, when 
he was allowed loose in the house, would go and mark the corner of the bed by 
where her crate was.  His access to the whole house was soon limited!!!  
However, now that he is "more mature", he seems to have gotten over that.  Or 
maybe it's because we moved to a new house and the old odors aren't here.
