I certainly don't mean any disrespect or seem ungrateful for our amateur win but I'm still unclear if this event is supposed to be about the DOGS or the HANDLERS? I already compete and do well in regular futurities so I personally entered mine for the handler not the dogs. If it's supposed to be about the handler and was decided to be limited to only JR's is it the dog or the handling ability that will be judged? Although I'm all for any event that will attract more kids into the fancy we already have Jr showmanship. Christine already hit the nail on the head. The people who chronically complain about competing against pro handlers as an excuse for not being more involved in showing will not participate in any event under any rules. If they can't afford to hire a handler, they probably can't afford the travel expenses and time off work to the event and/or the National finals. Which brings me to my next question since it's not addressed on the entry form (or I missed it), what does the winner of the National finals get? A ribbon? A plaque? are they an Amatuer Victor/Victrix? Do the parents get ROM points? Just trying to understand.
