I just took down one of her 3 books that I have and saw all the post-
it where I noted her words, the great pictures. Jim made our whelping
box from her directions and pictures. While I didn't use her obed.
training book as much (went to a different method), I 'lived' Wynn
Strickland for the first few years I was in GSDs and then continually
referred back to the book forever.

The picture of her in the row boat with the GSDs sitting happily was
an image that I alway adored.

A true icon for the breed.

Thanks for letting us know Ileana. This is such sad news. Wynn was my
inspiration when I got my first Shepherd in 1974. Over the years,
like so
many of us, I used her books over and over until they are all pretty
well
worn. Expert Obedience Training was my first training book and always
the
one I felt was the very best. Her "German Shepherd Today" written with
Jimmy was my Bible when I started showing in conformation. I am really
bummed. Her knowledge and love of the breed was a great treasure to
us. I
do not typically contribute to memorials, but this is one that I will
definaely want to participate in. Cynthia

It is with great sadness that I share with you that Wynn passed away
last
nite.

She is survived by her daughter Susan and her son Ron. and her long
time
assistant and companion, Georgia. Our most deepest condolences to them.

Our club, the Diamond State German Shepherd Dog Club, in Delaware, was
one
of her treasured creations, and she was active in it until that dreadful
car accident last year. We were just celebrating her at our board
meeting
last Sunday, and it seems so surreal that she is not here anymore.

I will forward more details (memorial, etc) as we get them.

Ileana Nogueras, President
