from the number of litters being nominated, which is substantially higher
than last year while the free litter nominations are lower, the "attitude"
is, thankfully, not pervasive.

and are willing to try to help keep them going and are participating when
we have pups.
Carol Moore is working hard and diligently to try to revive them. Many
Clubs are wanting to
participate with hosting them Many breeders and handlers look forward
to showing in them.
Time to appreciate the participants and workers instead of discouraging
them by making that
kind of a judgment call because you are not interested.
Our Reno Club is excited about having a chance to host the Mid Pacific
Futurity next year in
conjunction with our four show weekend!!
We really hope this attitude is not pervasive............??

I will better understand this thinking as soon as someone can explain to
me the "logic" of
how it makes it better for the breeder / exhibitor to have to travel a lot
farther to find a Futurity
for their promising puppies by taking away some of the more local
Futurities and at the same
time give them even less choices of show dates and judges.
When did we start governing how big an entry should be?
By the same logic we should contact A.K.C. and suggest less shows. After
all...their entries
are way down. Explain that to the local Clubs that put them on. <G>
Why can't we allow the Clubs to make that decision? The local Clubs are
the
support base
and the workers that put them on.
Maybe some would rather put on a small Futurity than no Futurity? Maybe
some of the exhibitors
did not like the date or prefer the judge or the judge change .....or
their puppies just plain fell apart.
It happens.
Possibly your Futurity / Maturity Victor or Victrix will come out of the
smallest Futurity!?

Maybe it was because the Futurity was on Sunday instead of Friday and by
then
those entered saw the competition....were tired, had not done well, and
pulled out.

Possibly making it easier to get to a closer Futurity by having the
Futurity
Regions we have now.instead of making them farther apart with even LESS
choices is still
the best way to keep the breeder/ exhibitor participating .........even
with low entries.

Surely that is a good idea. Especially during Futurity season regional
specialty clubs that are
not hosting a futurity cannot get enough of an entry to support their
club. Look at the number
of regional specialty clubs that are folding. In Louisiana we have two
regional specialty clubs
left and neither one have stand alone specialty. They do their shows with
AB shows either
as a night time show or a supported entry. I think it will come a point
where exhibitors will
need to decide what is more important a match placing/win or a win/major
at a point show.
