There is a proposal before our board to institute and award, for now called
AOA for champions. It has the same requirements as the AOE Award but is
specifically for Champions that are not Select.
1. This is an achievement item that an owner can strive for and is not
imposed.
2. It rewards soundness and creates a distinction for the animal that
achieves it.
3. It leaves the conformation judge free to do what they do without taking
additional time to administer the TT.
4. It may answer to many of the concerns voiced over the past few days.
5. It provides motivation to raise the bar without excluding those who are
not there yet.
6. Etc....
Some have questioned the use of the letters AOA, thinking it might be too
close to AOE and might be confusing. That might be a worthy discussion,
although I can tell the difference between an "A" and an "E" even at my
age..... Still!
The result is, the dog can still be a champion if it can pass the LLTE and
get the points, but those who can also certify with OFA, have a performance
title and be temperament certified are thus acknowledged.
