OK I agree with much of what you say. Keeping all that in mind then we should
all be breeding the type of dog that is shown in the illustrated standard. Why
have we spent the last 10 years or so trying to change it? Why have the dogs
changed so dramatically over the last 50 years??
Inquiring minds want to know.

Difference is that ( so far ) no one breaks off and specifically breeds GSD
with down ears.....or males
with undescended testicles.......<G>.........nor are they trying to change the
Standard to adhere to what
they want. Typically when that happens they are placed with no AKC Reg....or
a limited AKC Reg.
Obviously there is a place for the white GSD as many people LOVE THEM!! MANY
people would own
nothing else.....no problem.....but to ask to have the Breed Standard changed
IS the problem. It has nothing
to do with respecting someone's preferences......it has to do with respecting a
Breed Standard. It is after all
what makes each Breed what it is and recognizable as what it is.
You KNOW when you see a Boxer you are going to see a white blaze....not a half
white body.
You KNOW when you see an Aussie you are going to see a white chest and
feet....not a half white or all white body.
You Know when you see a Daschund you will not see erect ears................
New Breeds are being accepted quite a bit by AKC......in all the years of
trying to change this Breed's Standard

I understand wanting to follow the breed standard BUT how many breeders have
bred a GSD whose ears didn't come all the
way up? Isn't that a DQ? What about that beautiful male whose one testicle
never appeared? That's suppose to be a
DQ but it is NOT listed on the AKC Official Breed Standard for the GSD.
Each breeder has their own preferences, and believes, and I can respect their
decision not to breed to a white.

Why should they just be bred to other white GSDs aside from "that's what the
tandard says"? That seems like saying you should only breed sable to sable
nd black and tan to black and tan.
