I agree with that. However, in every competition, the owner/handler will be
nervous and wanting the best from their dog. That also goes right down the
lead. So, any dog being tested will be picking up on that. A good dog will
then rely on instinct. The owner will be sending signals to the dog to react
to the stranger, because they are nervous about the response. If the dog
doesn't respond, then he/she is not in tune to the owner. JMHO.

t your door that sets off all the mental alarm buttons and your dog will
ick up on that at once.
I am just referring to the dogs response to the guy in the temperament test
hough, not all the other things that can occur in life)

come down to how that dog performs on THAT day. For example, as in your
experience, your bitch was protective with a stranger that came to your
home and wanted to test her. She responded to that very well. Then, she
found out the stranger was not a bad guy afterall. The next week, you have
her tested for TT. Well, she sees the weird stranger and now isn't so sure
he's a bad guy. So, wouldn't training for that be counter productive?
Fool me once...... Now, I still think we should dump beer all over the
weird stranger. The agitator isn't going to have a fear or anger scent so
the beer would mask that and make it more realistic to what we might
encounter in real life. <VBG>
