I have only taken one shepherd through the temperament test. To me, he had a
very good shepherd temperament. He was mostly aloof with strangers, but warmed
up if they gave him attention. I did not work with him in any way regarding
the test, so I was pleased with some of his scores. He did great on the bucket
of rocks! My mistake was sitting on a hill and watching the first 3 dogs go
through with my dog at my side. He was smart enough to see that the weird
stranger was not a real threat. When it was our turn, he did not sense any
fear in me so he was just bored with the whole thing. He turned around and
started scratching a flea! He did pass, but they were not happy with his
reaction to that part of the test. I think it showed intelligence on his part
to realize that this was not a threatening situation for him or for me. If I
ever do it again I will not let my dog watch!
