I joined the GSDCA in 1985 and have all of my old Reviews. I did not want the
magazine to change from the original size or to go all color. There were so
many wonderful ads and they did not cost a lot. My friends and I put some in
back in the 80's. It was nice to be able to look through the Reviews and see
all the nice dogs and their pedigrees.
I currently belong to the Tibetan Spaniel Club of America. We are a very small
club and only do a quarterly newsletter type publication. The nice thing is
the handbook that is published now every year. If you finished a champion the
year before you can have a picture and pedigree published in that book. It
cost me $56.50 to advertise my two champions from 2008 and to purchase a copy
of the handbook. It is a great tool and that was what the old Reviews used to
be. I know we can click on line and find the pedigrees, but it is still not
the same.
I used to love getting the Review and spending time looking through the
pictures and reading the articles. It is a sad sign of our times that our
magazine costs so much that we can barely afford to purchase it, much less
place an ad. Going back to what was would be nice! But that's just my opinion.
