Perhaps then the GSDCA Review should require a marked catalog prior to any
events being published in the Review. If they don't now, they should
immediately, then this reason of "the information is only as good as what is
given" which is LONG-STANDING and does not in IMNSOHO give over to the fact
that Review after Review has this regularly featured "Correction" item can
be eliminated. Add to that, ads (and I have them in the magazine rack)
where ads show "fix this issue prior to publication" in brackets in PAID ads
which I hope were either paid for and refunded or refused payment on.
REGULAR PROBLEMS in the Review do more than make the club look bad -- they
drop the bottom line fiscally for people often will ask for their ad to
either be re-run in the next issue or another issue. Further to that, it
reduces the confidence of potential advertisers in running ads.
I've been seriously loathe to broach this subject on the list, a subject
which has bothered me for several years -- but this Von Stephanitz Stein
thing with 2 pages having corrections listed, I'm sorry... just I'm tired of
seeing this kind of bs almost every month. I don't know if you realize
this, but the GSDCA, in the potential financial crux it's in right now
having to determine where funds are or aren't, is paying well over $120K a
year for this publication. I don't recall if that includes printing and
mailing or not... but that's a lot of money! For a publication which runs
on average less than 70 pages, once a month???
Less than outstanding excellence is NOT Enough, IMNSHO. It is too
important. Maybe I'm wrong, it wouldn't be the first time... but I'm sorry,
I believe the GSDCA still has need of a print magazine, it ties the
membership together no matter if they are online or not.

I totally agree with you Kathaleen! Two pages of corrections in the
Review... It seems to me that the information in the magazine is only as
accurate as the information that is submitted. Maybe the owner's that
advertise will be more careful when submitting information/ads or catalogs
can be perfectly accurate .... and maybe someone will even thank the Review
Committee for noting the errors in the following month's magazine (my guess
is for free)... or maybe they should just leave out the corrections? This
would solve your headache and theirs!

Follow that up with 2 pages showing the regularly featured item of
"Corrections" and well. sorry, maybe it's a "small" thing to a majority of
people, but I'm tired of this continual lack of excellence for the magazine
that not only is supposed to be our club's mode of communication, but
outside our outstanding new Website (which is exceedingly well done I might
add), is our public face to the world.
