upon the breed of the dog being handled.
The above is from the AKC rules for Junior Showmanship. I believe the
group that wants to offer the cash prize could offer a gift certificate from
a
store of their choice. That certificate then could be offered at the
national or a local show. At least that is the way I read it. I say offer an
Ipad :0)

If Juniors receive a cash award I don't believe that would make them loose
Junior status. If they handle a dog for someone and get paid for doing
that, then they would loose Junior status because they are not considered
amateurs anymore because they were paid for a service. That is the way I
understand it.

Make the award a west coast award and let the board do their own thing.�
We have
many west coast juniors that are deserving.� Pick one of the shows in CA
that
takes place just before the national have the juniors compete for the
prize
money. Have a club dinner and award the check and honor the juniors. A
check
handed out after the fact or mailed to the parents after the national is
really
a put down to your generosity.
