Cyndy,
I always find it iteresting reading people's reactions to different natural
disasters. I guess it really comes down to you are more comfortable with what
is familiar. Being a born and bred Californian, earthquakes don't bother me in
the least, but tornadoes scare me to death! <G>
When I was a baby my grandparents were visiting from Oklahoma. Shortly after
they arrived we had a massive earthquake about 15 miles from our home. Because
it was out in the dessert and sparcely populated, there wasn't a lot of damage.
However, my grandfather wanted to go home immediately, even though they had
planned to stay for several months. He said he wouldn't trade one acre of
Oklahoma for the entire #$%^% state of California! LOL! They did convince
them to stay. However, about two weeks after they returned home, they had an
earthquake! My mother was born and grew up in Oklahoma and even she prefered
earthquakes to tornadoes.

The wind blew about 40 mph here last night and ripped shingles off my roof,
blew my scoop bucket across the street and ripped off my back screen door.
It did this early last week as well and blew one of my runs over and
destroyed all my tarps covering the runs.
Ten years ago, when I lived down the street from where I am now, a tornado
hit my house. Scary stuff, but I'll take a tornado over an earthquake or
volcanic eruption any day.
