We need to be honest with ourselves. We have a national as a way to
recognize ourselves, meet new people, have some fun with old friends, and get
together. The dogs give us an excuse, but if you want to see what is being
produced, go to the home of a breeder and look at the litter.
It is sort of like your highschool reunion. The person who weighs 400
pounds just skips the reunion. Of course everyone looks better than you, only
the
face lift crowd shows up.
No one will bring the crippled or deformed dog to the national, so all you
see is the best that is being produced. Does that give you a true idea of what
is being produced? No. But, you can ask, you can listen, you can learn, and
that is with the people there, which brings me to my first point.
If you have the national in one location, you will get the same people every
year, with a few who would go anywhere, and those who lost their jobs, got a
cut in pay, retired or have gained 400 pounds staying home. They would stay
home anyway.
Rotate, and let us work on getting there. If it is important and possible,
we will be there. If we weigh so much the airline has decided to charge extra
to carry us, we won't go. Build it and we will come.
