Pat,
This is no secret. I believe in transparency. This is my committee (Public
Relations)'s project - one of five.
It was not in the BOG because my report did not make the April BOG. I
personally typed it into Tom's computer myself, but somehow it got cut. I
gave a long presentation at the April board meeting regarding this and our
other projects.
I have mentioned it on the list though...and it's not to put money in the
club coffers, but to promote the image of the German Shepherd dog. It's
still very early in the works, but I have committee members contacting their
celebrity contacts, and hopefully we will have something by Q1 or Q2 next
year.
What we are doing - we are contacting them to write their experience with
their dogs, or possibly film a little PSA/testimonial for us. Give us
pictures with their dogs to use, etc. I suppose once we use the photos we
can donate them to a raffle or auction or something.
I didn't want to put something out there that was half baked, so haven't
come forward with all the details. If anyone wants to work on this project,
please let me know.

Thank you Evan for the insight; but for the life of me, why would the Parent
Club not keep the members informed of something like "talking to
celebrities" to help raise money for "whatever reason"....I would like to
know if this "project" is for the benefit of the club itself (money in the
Parent Club coffers), for the people who can attend the Nationals and get
"goodies" (and many of us can't), or is this a "rescue" project which is
close to many of our hearts.
Why is this such a big secret???? Gee, the celebrities put their pants and
bras on the same way we all do - LOL How could we possibly jeopardize
something we know nothing about as members of the Parent Club.....and we
still know nothing about the "larger plan" since I posed this question other
than "we may jeopardize something" .....secrets....secrets....secrets ---
don't ya love it!!!
