[ SHOWGSD-L ] Sticking my neck out and wondering which way we're HEADING

Many times when I see a picture of a male, my first response might
be..........hmmmmmm very pretty. Then I stop myself and say, a bitch
should be pretty. A male should be handsome. But in some cases I can't
say that a male is handsome, but I can definitely say he's pretty. A
male should have a different head than a bitch, but many times I see a
dog and say, "Wow, how pretty," and then realize it's a male! And then
one of my concerns is the lack of length of neck on some of our animals.
Short necks bother me. It seems like some necks are just sitting on top
of the dogs shoulders without any length at all. Just what purpose does
the length of neck serve besides looking attractive? I know the dog
should move with his head forward and not sticking up straight like a
giraffe. So there's my neck and head question/discussion. Barbara
